What is UnionPay?
UnionPay (formerly China UnionPay) was founded in March 2002 and is a well-known bank card association formed under the approval of the Government and Peoples Bank of China. UnionPay is the only national bankcard association in China.
At present, it is possible to use the card in more than 170 countries and international regions. With over 5 billion issued cards in total, UnionPay has the world’s largest card user base.
Are there any transaction limits?
UnionPay has no transaction limit. When purchasing with UnionPay debit cards, the cardholder may purchase for the amount available on the card. When purchasing with credit cards, the purchase limit is set by the cardholder’s bank, but no general upper transaction limit exists.
What exchange rates does UnionPay use?
As with Visa and MasterCard, UnionPay has its own exchange rate. Generally, these three courses are very similar to each other. UnionPay collects its exchange rates from several market sources like Reuters, Bloomberg, and the central banks. The current rate is set daily.
